Somerset Mall Charity Book Fair- Wed 1 July-Sat 4 July

Charity Book Fairs are a wonderful adventure- you just never know what might be lurking in a crate that title which you have been searching for for years. This coming week Somerset Mall are hosting 27 charities all bringing a wonderful selection of books.

This year we have absolutely fabulous Children’s books, some of them in mint condition, we have books for all ages stunning books for 0-5 year olds, easy reading for those just starting out and a marvellous selection for pre teens and older adolescents.

Also fiction both English and Afrikaans and a huge selection of non fiction. Philosophy, Body Mind Spirit, History, Craft, Africana & collectibles and much more. Find us at entrance 3 and turn left.

New Charity Book Sale In Rondebosch

Friday 21 November until Sunday 21 November at St Paul’s Church Hall Rondebosch.

St Paul’s Church, Help the Rural Child, Cafda Bookshops,Marsh Memorial Homes and us St George’s Cathedral Books are taking part. On the Friday evening 21 November at 7pm [19:00] Andrew Brown award winning Cape Town author will be in conversation with Mary Bock about his work and new book Devil’s Harvest which will also be on sale. this should be a most stimulating evening. Refreshments on sale throughout.

Annual Report to the Cathedral Vestry

2012 has been a good year.

We have taken less in the shop [as we have noticed a marked decrease in tourists & those who visit the Cathedral. are often not aware that we exist]. In spite of this our giving has remained almost the same as we had some reserves to fall back on and we made almost R20000 more at the outside sales [Somerset Mall, Cavendish Square, and at the Cape Town Book Fair at the CTICC]. In total we took over R50000 at these sales.

We are very grateful to all who work so hard. We are well served by a very committed band of volunteers, both those who volunteer week by week in the shop and that much wider group,  who help at the annual Cavendish and Somerset Mall Sales. Continue reading
